The offshore structures are usually designed for different environmental loads that have high uncertainities; reliability offers a rational framework to quantify such uncertainities. Objective of the course is to introduce the fundamentals of probability theory and its application to reliability based assessment of load and strength parameters for marine structures. This shall lead to better understanding of modern offshore design codes.
