The goal of this course is to make the student familiar to different types of free surface waves and related theories. The suitability of potential flow based formulation will be reviewed in this course. Later the limitation of potential theory will be also highlighted. This course will also introduce asymptotic analysis and explain the derivation of higher order equation of water wave. In later part of the course, computational aspects of free surface wave will be discussed.
